Department Introduction
The Department of Business English trains international trade experts, business interpreters, and e-commerce operation management specialists with international trade skills and business manners based on English proficiency.
The department has established a systematic curriculum, passionate faculty, and various student support programs. We operate multiple programs for students to enjoy university life, such as field trips, domestic and global internships, international language programs, special lectures in specialized fields, employment special lectures, clubs, and departmental MT.
In addition, the bachelor's degree major enhancement course, which aims to deepen the job skills of bachelor's graduates and obtain a 4 year bachelor's degree, is available at night.
As Korea's export industry ranks 10th in the world (as of 2020), trade and office administration and English-related jobs in Seoul, a global city, account for most of the total business.
In addition, there is a demand for industrialization experts with IT skills in the 4th Industrial Revolution era. Therefore, the demand for international trade experts, IT technology sales experts, general office professionals, and English-based specialists is steady and likely to increase in the future, making the education program of the Department of Business English at Seoil University an indispensable part of the future educational demand and talent cultivation.
Educational Objectives
The Department of Business English aims to cultivate practitioners who can use practical English in the industrial field and cultivate international trade and business competencies through business translation, international trade, and e-commerce education. In addition, the department aims to strengthen the professional skills of students based on three multi-track programs that aim to obtain two or more certificates per student.

Department Characteristics
- A major that enables students to acquire job skills related to international trade, e-commerce, and business interpreting to foster multi-convergence creative talents required by the 4th Industrial Revolution.
- Students must acquire at least two certifications (e.g., OPIC+ Business Translation, OPIc+ International Trade + E-commerce)
- Operate workplace-related programs such as global internships, short-term language training, field trips, and practical semester systems.
